Outcome Area 6: Youth earn a post-secondary degree or career credential.
More and more employers are looking for workers with college degrees and/or other credentials, such as certifications. While high school graduates are better employed and earn more than non-graduates, those with a college education hold an even more significant advantage. For this outcome, we measure two indicators:
Fairfax County Public Schools high school students who earn a career credential are coveted by many employers immediately upon high school graduation.
Post-secondary degrees earned by students from Fairfax County is an indicator of the extent to which local students are attending and completing college.
Credentials and/or post-secondary degrees are minimum requirements for many jobs, making them essentially prerequisites to future economic self-sufficiency.
