Why is this important?

Brain cancer is a serious, often fatal, type of cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, brain and other nervous system cancers are relatively rare compared to other cancers. It is the tenth leading cause of cancer death in the United States. It is slightly more common in men than women and among those with certain genetic syndromes.
