Melanoma Incidence Rate

This indicator shows the age-adjusted incidence rate for melanoma of the skin in cases per 100,000 population.

Why is this important?

Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer. It is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old and the second most common form of cancer for adolescents and young adults 15-29 years old. Each year in the United States more than 53,600 people are diagnosed with melanoma. In the U.S., the percentage of people who develop melanoma has more than doubled in the past 30 years.
